Houston, TX (September 19, 2021) - Officers with the Houston Police Department say that an intoxicated driver is to blame for a fatal crash that occurred late on Sunday evening, September 19, in the southwestern part of the city.
Around midnight, a driver traveling in the 11800 block of Chimney Rock at Gasmer ran a red light and crashed into another car at the intersection.
The alleged at-fault driver showed signs of intoxication, police said. The passenger in their vehicle was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene of the accident.
Two people inside the other vehicle were transported to area hospitals with serious injuries. There was no word on the identities of the victims involved, however, or the driver, who was taken into custody.
Authorities in Houston continue to investigate and have not provided further details.
