Train Accidents in Harris County

undefinedAccidents that take place at highway-railway crossings have the highest rate of annual train-related fatalities. They are responsible for between 300 and 400 deaths annually. A responsible party can be identified in every single train crossing accident, including those tasked with track maintenance, maintaining crossing signals, and the upkeep of roadways that lead to the tracks.

Railway crossing accidents can have multiple causes, such as defective crossing signals, including those with no gates, no lights, and overgrown shrubbery, all of which make an approaching train difficult to see. It is essential to document the crash site before the railroad company has a chance to clear the scene. It is up to them to make sure that the warning devices are clearly visible and in proper working order.

In rural areas, a train neglecting to sound its horn could result in an accident, particularly at crossings with no gate. A lot of railroad crossings only have crossbucks or lights. Obstructed sightlines make the train or the crossing itself hard to see. In some instances, private crossings are upheld by a property owner instead of the railroad company.
