Spring, TX (April 20, 2021) - Two men lost their lives on Saturday, April 17, in a car accident in Spring. The crash was reported to have occurred at around 11:25 p.m. in a 2019 Tesla Model S being driven by autopilot.
The exact location of the accident has not been released at this time. However, it was stated by various sources that the crash happened about 30 miles north of Houston in the Woodlands in Spring. According to information provided by a deputy from the Harris County Precinct 4, the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway, struck a tree, and burst into flames.
Police and paramedics along with fire crews were called to assist at the scene shortly after the incident occurred. A preliminary investigation revealed that the car was on autopilot at the time of the collision.
The two victims who lost their lives were identified as men ages 69 and 59. Their names have not been disclosed at this time as police continue to investigate.
