Alyssa L. Romero was born and raised in Brownsville, Texas where she graduated from Homer Hanna High School in 2007. Alyssa went on to attend The University of Texas at Austin and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government in 2010. Right after her college graduation, Alyssa, moved to Houston, Texas where she attended Thurgood Marshall School of Law. At Thurgood Marshall, Alyssa excelled in her classes and was awarded the CALI award and scholarship for Wills, Trusts, & Estates, which is awarded to the student with the highest grade in the class. Her high achievement in her Evidence course gave her the privilege of also serving as a Teaching Assistant under one of her esteemed professors. Alyssa went on to graduate Cum Laude in 2013 and earn her Juris doctorate.
While in law school, Alyssa clerked at Farah Law Group, PLLC where she gained experience working on personal injury pre-litigation and litigation cases, as well as all aspects of school law.
After passing the Texas Bar Exam in 2013, Alyssa was hired by The Farah Law Group to manage their Rio Grande Valley offices (Edinburg and Brownsville). Alyssa has focused part of her practice on personal injury cases and has been successful in negotiating settlements for her clients both in pre-litigation and litigation to compensate them for their injuries. She has worked on and assisted in litigating and settling a number of serious injury cases, most notable is a seven-figure settlement for a client who suffered catastrophic injuries resulting from a construction site injury.
Alyssa also focuses her practice on real estate law and has handled hundreds of residential and commercial real estate transactions. She has assisted sellers, buyers, lenders, borrowers, and investors in tackling complex real estate transactions and issues. Alyssa has two (2) straight selections to the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars list – an award bestowed upon only 2.5% of attorneys in the State of Texas.
Alyssa takes pride in her community and plays an active role. She serves on the board of the Hidalgo County Young Lawyers Association that takes part in numerous community-oriented service projects. Alyssa helped found Lawyers for Literacy which is a partnership between Hidalgo County Young Lawyer’s Association and South Texas Literacy Coalition to help promote and increase literacy rates in her community. Alyssa also serves on the Board of Advocates of Texas Trial Lawyers Association and shares their mission of “Protecting Texas Families Through Good Laws and Good Lawyers”.
