The ear has three structures – outer ear, middle ear, and inner ear – that process soundwaves and convert the sound into signals the brain can understand. When the central nerve or inner ear is damaged, permanent hearing loss can result. Damage to the ear can be caused by another person’s or company’s intentional acts or negligence. In such instances, you may be able to take legal action against the responsible party.
If your hearing loss resulted from someone else’s negligent behavior, you may be entitled to receive compensation for medical bills, pain and suffering, and lost wages. At Farah Law, we are committed to holding those responsible for your injuries financially liable. We work hard to recover compensation on your behalf.
Our Houston personal injury attorneys at Farah Law can provide you with strong legal counsel for hearing loss or tinnitus you suffered because of someone else’s behavior.
In 2018, 3M settled a lawsuit alleging the company sold defective earplugs to the U.S. Government. The earplugs were issued to military members between 2003 and 2015, and, because of a defective design, could have led to soldiers suffering hearing loss or tinnitus. The earplugs were too short and could loosen in the soldiers’ ears, making them ineffective at blocking loud combat noises. To settle these allegations, 3M agreed to pay $9.1 million to reimburse the government.
Individual military members may also be able to pursue legal action against the company to recover compensation for injuries sustained as a result of using the defective earplugs. If you were deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan between 2003 and 2015 and were issued the 3M Combat Arms Earplugs, Version 2, contact Farah Law to discuss your legal options. We have successfully recovered millions of dollars in personal injury cases and will work hard to obtain a favorable outcome for you.
