Guerra & Farah, PLLC is happy to announce that it has secured two decisive
victories on behalf of its clients this month. In both a drug case and
a juvenile sex crime case, our firm brought much-needed clarity to the
charges in question and ensured that justice was provided for our clients.
On July 14, 2015, our client appeared in court for possession of controlled
substance. He had been a passenger in a vehicle where cocaine, heroin,
and crystal meth were found in a hidden compartment. Our team was quick
to site the cases of
Rodriguez v. United States 575 U.S.___ 2015 and
Brendlin v California 551 U.S. 249 2007, which provided that a) the stop of the vehicle was illegal and b) passengers
have the right to contest the stop of a vehicle. In response, the charges
against our client were dismissed.
On July 20, our team again prevented a case from going to trial. Our client,
a juvenile, had been charged with indecency with a child due to school
bus incident. The charges, which were made determinate by a Grand Jury,
could have resulted in 20 years in prison and sex offender registration
if a conviction was reached. In our firm's investigation, however,
we discovered that several key witnesses were not interviewed by law enforcement
or the prosecution. Our interviews with these witnesses confirmed our
client's version of events: that the bus incident was consensual and
that complaining witness only made allegations only after her boyfriend
and parents learned of the event.
Both of these cases are a testament to the swift and aggressive action
our team is committed to before a trial even starts. That diligence has
paid off for countless of our clients—including the two mentioned
above—who needed a vocal and proactive advocate by their side following
an undue criminal allegation.
We congratulate our team of attorneys for their victories this month and
are sure that they will continue reinforce Guerra & Farah, PLLC's
